Music Theory Class
Tuesdays, 2-3 pm in the Choir Room, second floor of the Ministries Hall
** No class on August 21 **
Come join the music theory class! We enjoy lots of laughter and great learning. Right now, we are learning how to use the voice correctly: posture, breathing, vocal technique, plus sight singing. Of course, we are learning the notes and rhythms as we go. Join us on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome! Questions? Contact Pat Gould at 843-364-9552 or email@example.com.
Great Hymns of the Church and Resurrection Choir
Thursdays beginning 9/13/18, 11:00-11:45 a.m. in the Choir Room, second floor of the Ministries Hall
Announcing a new opportunity for learning and serving. Join us on Thursdays at 11 AM beginning September 13 in the choir room for a study of great hymns of the church. The class will end promptly at 11:45 so you can get to the Rector's Bible Study in the Parish House. You will appreciate hymns even more when you know the inspiration God gave to hymn writers. We will usually study hymns for the upcoming Sunday. This is a class with a purpose!
The class will be called the Resurrection Choir and will be available to lead hymns and prayers at parish funerals. The Resurrection Choir continues to be a blessing at two parishes where I have served. I am positive that grieving families will be blessed at St. Philip's as well.Members do not need to be great singers, but we will work to make improvements in your voice. Each week we will study about posture, breathing and vocal production as we learn the "story" of many of the great hymns of the church and sing hymns together.
Requirements? Only that you love to sing hymns and have a heart for service. Members do not need to read music! Any time a funeral is held in the church, members of the Resurrection Choir will have the opportunity to serve. Everyone will be notified via email of upcoming funerals. No one must sing at all funerals, but service must be to all grieving families.
Please contact Pat Gould at firstname.lastname@example.org to register for this class/choir. Please provide your full name, address, email address and best telephone number. Pat must know how many will attend so handouts can be prepared in advance.
The Choir Room is located on the 2nd floor of the Ministries Hall at the corner of Church and Queen Streets. Everyone is welcome!
