Open Door Committee

OPEN DOOR COMMITTEE has EXPANDED
(and we need YOU)

YOU are being called to an important, critical and fun ministry at St. Philip’s Church, one that requires some of your most precious assets: your TIME and your TALENTS. The Vestry has voted to expand the good works of the Open Door Committee volunteers: Bill McIntosh, Elizabeth Bowles, John Macmurphy, Harold and Merrill Robling, Catherine Jones, and others to OPEN OUR DOORS to visitors on a regular schedule: Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day (10:00-1:00 on Fridays).

To accomplish our ministry, we need to staff the Church at all times with at least one (1) volunteer from the Open Door Committee. One volunteer can serve from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, one from from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., and another from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This could be great fun for a husband and wife or two friends on each shift. A sign-up schedule and complete training will be provided.

We all know that The Good Lord has truly blessed us in the beauty and majesty of our Church. We have a duty to share that beauty with others to the glory of God. Charleston is known for its history and gracious hospitality. We believe that St. Philip’s Church should be a cornerstone in Charleston's welcome. And YOU are the key to helping the Open Door Committee translate our good wishes into ACTS.

The Volunteer's main responsibility is to:
1) WELCOME GUEST to St. Philip’s (as you would to your home)
2) Answer questions and perhaps share a brief history of St. Philip’s
(Church will provide)
3) Ask where they are from and invite them to register
4) Welcome tour guides (they will do their own "history lesson")
5) Offer a bottle of our St. Philip’s Living Water--it is FREE; however, DONATIONS are appreciated.

THAT'S IT!!! We just need YOU; you are our Ambassadors. Please see Bill McIntosh, another member of Church Street Missions, Ed Pendarvis (843-819-7842), or Elizabeth Bowles (843-364-0810) with any questions.
