We are currently holding services in our Parish Hall on the corner of Church and Cumberland Streets. The sanctuary and graveyard are closed to weekday visitors due to construction and renovations taking place as part of our Shine the Light capital campaign.
Grandparents have a unique opportunity to pass down wisdom, values, and faith to their grandchildren, including how to handle money from a biblical perspective. With today’s culture promoting instant gratification and excessive spending, grandparents can help their grandchildren develop a strong foundation of financial stewardship based on God’s Word. By instilling key biblical principles and providing age-appropriate financial guidance, grandparents can shape the next generation into wise and faithful stewards.

St. Philip’s first GriefShare course finished up at the end of April. What a privilege it was for me, Juanita Orvin, and Gerry McCord to facilitate this strong grief support program! Thirteen participants completed their work each week, covering topics such as “What is Normal?”, “Loneliness and Sadness,” “Self Care,” “Anger,” “Regrets,” “Questions for God,” “Hope and Resilience,” and more. Here’s what a few folks said about their experience:...
June 17, 2025by Dorothy Lancaster, Director of Ministry to Children and Families
Have you ever stopped to just wonder at Jesus––his childhood, his miracles, his death and resurrection, his plan for a second coming? Last week at St. Philip’s, 65 children ages 4–11 and over 30 youth and adult volunteers did just that!

The World Missions Committee and Uganda Christian University Partners are offering St. Philippians a chance to go on pilgrimage to East Africa October 17–29! We will be spending the majority of our time with our ministry partners at Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono, about 12 miles east of the capital, Kampala, and we will conclude our pilgrimage with a full African safari at Murchinson Falls National Park to observe Uganda’s treasure––its wild animals on the savanna! We will be on the lookout for kob, giraffes, elephants, baboons, warthogs, and even lions and leopards. When we take a boat ride on the Nile to Murchinson Falls, keep your eyes peeled for hippos, beautiful birds, and crocodiles....
At the announcements during the 10:30 service on Sunday, May 11, campaign co-chair Maybank Hagood, flanked by co-chairs Karen Phillips and Martha Freshley, took to the eagle to share that a few days earlier, the campaign had raised pledges and donations surpassing that mark. The congregation responded with a very enthusiastic round of applause....
I come from professional and volunteer church musicians on both sides of my family, and I’ve had a career in church musicianship, so I was naturally eager to read Paul Reese’s recent article in the inSPIRE, “Why Do We Have Music in the Church?” And when I read a particular sentence at the very end of Paul’s article, I felt I wanted to write about my experience wi...
Worship with us on World Mission Sunday! The Rev. Dr. Chris Royer, Executive Director of Anglican Frontier Missions, is our guest preacher; read on for in-person and online worship details. ...

With Guest Preacher the Rev. Dr. Chris Royer, Executive Director of the Anglican Frontier Mission
What is “frontier mission”? An honest question! And one that is often overlooked by the Body of Christ. Frontier mission is, in Chris Royer’s own words, “taking the gospel where the church is not.” How does Anglican Frontier Mission (AFM) reach these very difficul...
After participating in the dedication of the Rangi New Testament last August, I was blessed with an hours-long drive with a missionary friend Jared, and Anderson, a Tanzanian Christian and devoted choir member. We got to talking about many things, including church music. To my delight, Anderson encapsulated in a few short statements some of the reasons we Christians are to...
We are excited to have Mark Bartels and Dr. Charity Alinda from Uganda Christian University Partners, one of St. Philip’s world mission partners, joining us at the Rector’s Forum on Sunday, February 9. They will be speaking on the ministry of UCU and its impact on East Africa, with a Q&A session included....
The call to our parish to donate canned goods to Star Gospel was heard, and we received two Suburbans (thank you, Jill and Jennie!) and a small SUV filled with bags of canned goods, rice, pasta, etc. Thank you to the St. Philip’s office and to Lea and Rachel for helping coordinate and make the copies of the flyers. Thank you to all who handed out bags, donated, and loade...
This past Saturday morning, dozens of St. Philippians met bright and early at Hope to Home, one of our Home Missions ministry partners, for a Saturday Serve workday. I knew a little about Hope to Home but had never seen the facility nor volunteered in any role. I quickly learned there is a lot that goes into making Hope to Home function, and all of it is performed by volun...
