Planning Underway for Classical Christian School as Shine the Light Campaign Seeks to Reach Phase On
“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” ––Psalm 127:1
Buoyed by much prayer, the Classical Christian School Planning Committee was delighted to accept the charge of the Vestry to plan a classical Christian school dedicated to raising up students to be ambassadors of Christ steeped in the best traditional and classical learning.
During the Committee’s second meeting on Thursday, May 30, members were excited to receive the Shine the Light Campaign update that $773,000 had been raised since plans for the school were announced on May 5 and that pledges and contributions received to date are $14.73 million. The congregation is now $1.67 million away from reaching the first goal of the campaign––raising $16.4 million for restoration of the historic campus, including expansion of the Parish House. Once this first goal is met, all additional funds will support the school and the upfit of the church’s building at Cumberland and State Streets to house the school.
What’s Next?
The Committee identified the critical decision points that will be necessary before announcing the start of the school, including the raising of the additional $1.67 million to complete the first phase of the Shine the Light Campaign, fundraising for the school, and the hiring of the Head of School.
The Committee formed the following work groups, made up of committee members and others, to work on the various planning tasks:
- Financial Foundations Work Group
- Property Work Group
- Governance and Legal Work Group
- Foundational Documents Work Group
- Communication Work Group
- Head of School Search Committee
- Prayer Committee
How Can Our St. Philip’s Family Help?
The Committee asks for prayers from the congregation for completion of the first phase of the Shine the Light Campaign, for the raising up of the Head of School, and for the ongoing work of the Committee.
We encourage all St. Philippians to make a prayerful and generous pledge to the Shine the Light Campaign so that St. Philip’s can open the doors of a classical Christian school for the children of our parish and community. We are grateful for all who are praying for, encouraging, and supporting this vision. Pledge forms and online giving information are available on the Shine the Light page of our website.
