55+ Outing: Mepkin Abbey Crèche Festival & Middleton Place
November 30, 2023
8:30am – 4:30pmCategory: 55+ Ministry
Join us for our fall 55+ outing to the Mepkin Abbey Crèche Festival and Middleton Place Plantation (with lunch at Oscar's in Summerville in between).
Mepkin Abbey Crèche Festival: Each year the monks at the Mepkin Abbey display dozens of creches from the abbey's collection of more than 700 nativity sets. This event offers a peaceful place for guests to reflect upon Christ’s sacred birth as they usher in the Christmas season.
Middleton Place: Located along the Ashley River in Charleston, Middleton Place is a rare survivor of the American Revolution, Civil War, economic upheavals, and natural disasters. First granted in 1675, this National Historic Landmark connects to the very fabric of our nation’s complex history focusing on the contributions of the Middleton family as well as the enslaved Africans and African Americans who lived and worked here. The stories are a microcosm of United States history.
- Schedule: The bus will depart from the Church at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 4:30 p.m. Parking for your vehicles will be available in the church lot.
- Cost: $195 per person. This includes bus fare, lunch at Oscar's of Summerville, entrance fee for our group to the Mepkin Abbey Crèche Festival and Middleton Place, and all gratuities.
