Diocesan Convention (Delegate Nominations Needed)

March 10, 2023 to March 11, 2023
All Day
Category: Diocesan EventThe Annual Convention of the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina is scheduled for Friday, March 10–Saturday, March 11, at Church of the Cross in Bluffton, SC. Due to the short time frame between the elections at St. Philip’s Annual Meeting on March 5 and the Diocesan Convention five days later, coupled with the need for overnight travel, nominations for lay delegates to represent St. Philip’s at the Diocesan Convention are open early. Nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting will also be accepted.
Church bylaws state that the congregation must elect four lay delegates and four alternates to represent the Parish at the Diocesan Convention. The current Junior and Senior Wardens are usually nominated by title, and then there should be at least six other delegates nominated in order to have eight delegates total.
To submit a nomination, please first confirm with the person that he or she is willing and able to represent St. Philip’s by traveling to Bluffton and attending both days of the Convention. After receiving confirmation, please send the nominee’s name to Rachel Murphy (rachel@saintphilips.church), Kat Phillips (kphil100@gmail.com), or Penn Hagood (pennhagood@gmail.com).
There will be an opportunity for nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting as long as the nominee is willing and able to travel to Bluffton the following Friday.
Voting will take place at St. Philip’s Annual Meeting on Sunday, March 5. Convention lodging has been reserved at recommended hotels for St. Philip’s delegates.
