As grandparents, we desire above all that our grandchildren will grow in their personal relationship with Christ. One of the most effective ways we as grandparents can promote this desire is to spend time praying for them. Our schedules get so busy that without prioritizing prayer time, the hours get filled and none are left for the things we hold most dear.
To help us give this gift of prayer to our grandchildren, the Generations Ministry is beginning Grandparents @ Prayer. The first Thursday of each month (September through May) any time between 11:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., St. Philip’s chapel will be open for grandparents to come and spend time quietly and individually praying for their grandchildren. You will be greeted at the door by a Generations Ministry team member and given a handout on prayer resources as well as suggested prayers. There will be a prayer box in the chapel if you wish to submit a written prayer request for our Generations Prayer team to confidentially pray specifically for your grandchild or you as a grandparent. You may also email Scharlene Ringer at fishfripp1@gmail.com or text (423) 827-3050 to have the Generations Prayer Team confidentially pray over your request.
No reservations needed. Come and bring another grandparent! Many will be coming as a group and going to the Rector's Bible Study afterwards or eating lunch downtown to enjoy fellowship as well as encourage each other to pray for our grandchildren.
If you have questions or would like to volunteer to be part of the Generations Prayer Ministry, please contact Jane McGreevy (843) 793-9832 or janemcgreevy@yahoo.com .
