Children at St. Philip's

Jesus said to his disciples, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:14).  Christian parents have a holy calling: at the baptism of their children, they take a solemn vow to raise them in the knowledge, love, and service of the Lord.  As the body of Christ, we are committed to supporting parents in this ministry.  We offer classes for all ages during Sunday School (9:15 a.m.-10:15 a.m.) and provide opportunities for age-appropriate worship for our younger children during the 10:30 a.m. service.

Additionally, the safety and security of our children is of the utmost importance. We use the KidCheck electronic check-in/check-out system for children from birth through fourth grade at all of our children's ministry events. You can learn more about KidCheck here and can register your child using the link below:

Nursery

We provide nursery care for children ages 0-36 months during the Sunday School hour (9:15-10:15 a.m.) and during the 10:30 a.m. Worship service. The nursery can be found on the first floor of the Parish House (Corner of Church and Cumberland Streets – click here for a campus map).

Sunday School

Classes for children and youth begin at 9:15 a.m.-10:15 a.m. (adult classes begin at 9:30 a.m. to give parents ample time to get their children to their classrooms).  Becasue "all Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17), all of our classes use biblically-based curriculum.  Most of our classes meet on the first floor of the Parish House (click here for a campus map), while 5th graders "graduate" to the classroom underneath the Chapel of the Good Shepherd.

When you arrive, speak to one of our friendly volunteers, and they will be glad to direct you to the appropriate classroom. Parents will need to pick up their children promptly at 10:15 a.m. so that our volunteer teachers can make it to worship on time. The nursery remains open during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Children's Chapel

Children ages 4 years-4th grade are invited to begin their 10:30 a.m. worship at Children’s Church (Room 109, first floor of the parish hall), where they will sing songs, participate in activities, and hear a special, age-appropriate teaching from God's Word. They will rejoin their families during the Welcome and Announcements.
