Intercessory Prayer Ministry

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession
and thanksgiving be made for everyone. 1 Timothy 2:1

St. Philip’s has an active ministry of intercessory prayer, and we encourage you to avail yourself of the many opportunities to receive prayer.  All of our prayer ministers have received training and are bound by their ministry to keep private and personal matters in the strictest of confidence.

During Worship

Teams are available during the 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays Alive! service to pray with you and during 10:30 a.m. Holy Communion services on Sundays.

Prayer Appointments

Members of our prayer ministry team are also available for private prayer sessions. To learn more or schedule an appointment, please contact a member of the prayer team:

Prayer List

St. Philip's keeps both a public and private intercessory prayer list. Our public list is printed in the inSPIRE and eSPIRE and read aloud during Sunday worship, while our private list is unpublished and is shared only with our clergy and intercessors. Both prayer lists include prayers for St. Philippians and/or their close relatives who are sick, grieving, expecting a baby, or have loved ones serving in the military or on the mission field. Please contact Alice Smith at the front desk (843) 722-7734 to add or remove someone from the prayer list.

Urgent Prayer Team

This team is composed of a group of individuals who are committed to prayer, who believe in the power of prayer and are willing to interrupt what they are doing in order to hear and pray for the needs of others. The Urgent Prayer Team is available for prayer needs that are immediate, such as sudden illness or surgery, or difficult personal situations.

Requests for the Urgent Prayer Team are for anyone who attends St. Philip’s, members of their families, and for people closely connected to us. If you are requesting prayer for someone other than yourself, it is essential you have his or her permission (if he or she is able to give it) before contacting the Urgent Prayer Team.

To start a prayer request, individuals will either call the church office at (843) 722-7734 or call team leader Suzanne McCord at (843) 224-1630. Prayer requests will be sent as they have been received unless the information is of a nature too sensitive to distribute. Please keep the messages brief so they can be received easily. The requests for prayer are personal, and this team will keep private all information received.
