News––New Wineskins 2022

Imagine singing praises to God with all your heart with 1600 people from all over the world! It was definitely a magnificent taste of heaven. St. Philippians, as well as lots of dear friends from across our diocese, were able to be a part of the 2022 New Wineskins Anglican Global Mission Conference at Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, NC. This conference is held every three years and this was the largest gathering to date for the event.

The theme this year was “111: Be the one, See the One, Share the One.” Be the one to reach out with the love of Christ––See the one who needs the truth of the gospel––Share the One true God.

There were plenary sessions mornings and evenings and then over 100 workshops offered during four time slots over the three-day weekend addressing a very wide array of issues regarding mission overseas as well as close to home. Highlights from the plenary sessions for me include a presentation from Gwen Adams, the founder of Priceless, a ministry in Alaska attacking widespread sex trafficking; the Rt. Rev. Abraham Nhial, Bishop of South Sudan;  and LAMB founder Suzy McCall’s poignant 15-minute message on Friday night. Several of us also participated in gatherings hosted by SAMS (Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders) as well as CMJ (Church’s Ministry among Jews), for which the Most Rev. Dr. Foley Beach gave a compelling address.

It was an amazing time together, and it was quite a blessing to be a part of this special conference. The entire conference was videotaped and should be available soon on the New Wineskins app, which you can learn about at newwineskins.org.
