House of Prayer: October/November Prayer Points
“My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” ––Isaiah 56:7
“The effective fervent prayers of a righteous man avails much.” ––James 5:16a
Answered Prayers (Thank You, Lord):
1. For the new volunteers for the Open Door Ministry––they had over 700 people come through the doors last week.
2. For protection from Hurricane Ian, that it didn’t cause a lot of damage in our area.
3. For a wonderful reception for Pat Gould and Florance Anderson
4. For good representation from our church for New Wineskins Conference.
5. For excellent turnout for the Valerie Elliot Shepard ECW event.
6. For the success of Brian’s eye surgery.
7. For safe travel and for a refreshing weekend at Kanuga.
Prayer Points for the Bishops
1. For extra measure of wisdom for the Rt. Rev. Chip Edgar, our diocesan bishop, and the Rt. Rev. Ruth Woodliff-Stanley, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina. Pray they work together in the final decisions that still affect several of the churches.
Prayer Points for Our Clergy (adapted from the prayers of Dan Reiland, Executive Pastor of 12 Stone Church in Lawrenceville, GA)
1. For God’s favor, Holy Spirit power, and God’s anointing.
2. For spiritual vitality, that their love of God and relationship with Jesus would remain close, real, and fresh.
3. For their leadership, giving them strength of character, wisdom in decision-making, passion in preaching, and for the salvation of many people.
4. That God would grant clear and inspiring vision along with direction and strategy to achieve the vision.
5. For their families. Help them experience a deep and abiding love for each other. Pray for peace at home and protection from spiritual attacks.
6. For their physical health. Give them stamina, energy, clear thinking.
Prayer Points for Other Local Needs and Beyond:
1. For great turnout for Brian’s teaching from C.S. Lewis’s “The Great Divorce.”
2. For our vestry: For wisdom, discernment, and protection for them and their families.
3. For all of our services to be well attended.
4. For the prayer ministers on Wednesday nights. For people to take advantage of this ministry.
5. For the upcoming election: That people would vote and the polls would be well managed.
6. For good turnout for the Discover Your Gifts workshop.
7. For good response to the Nights of a Thousand Candles road trip to Brookgreen Gardens with Bill Christian.
8. For the Mere Anglicanism Conference to be well attended.
9. For the necessary provisions for the areas in Florida that were damaged by the storm. Pray for the people as they grieve their losses.
Prayer Points for the Nations:
1. England: For healing for the Prime Minister who had to step down, Liz Truss, and her supporters. For the new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, to help bring unity to the country and stabilize their economy.
2. Ukraine: For Putin to be willing to negotiate a peace settlement, stopping the war. To prevent Putin from considering discharging a nuclear weapon. For the resources needed to rebuild the many cities that have been destroyed.
3. For Taiwan: That China would NOT invade this country and they would remain a free
independent nation.
4. For Israel: For God’s choice in the upcoming election and peace for Jerusalem.
5. For Haiti: For the American convoy to get through to the people who need the supplies.
For gangs to be broken up.
6. For America: For protection for the members of the Supreme Court and their families, and for wisdom and unity within its members. For the fear of the Lord to guide all meetings in Congress and special committee meetings. For wisdom for the military advisors dealing with all the issues around the world. For the upcoming elections for seats in the House and Senate: May those elected be godly people and have the courage to stand for truth. For inflation to come under control especially as it affects seniors, the poor and those on fixed incomes. For the immigration problems to be solved and for the cartels to lose their power. For protection for our children in the things they are hearing, the things they are being taught and the things they are seeing that are contrary to the Word of God. Have mercy, dear Lord.
